I grew up surrounded by food lovers- my mom, the resident chef in our house (until I took over…) my dad, who loves nearly every type of food, and of course my brother and sister, the taste-testers of the kitchen. I have always loved helping my mom in the kitchen, but it wasn’t until a few years ago that I really began to love cooking and baking. It became not only my hobby, but my passion, and gonna be honest here, kind of an obsession.
Throughout my life, my mom has stressed the importance of healthy, sustainable, and delicious food. She always considered where food came from, what it was made of, how buying it impacted the world, and how eating it impacted our bodies. She is undoubtedly where my interest and love for food comes from. So whenever I cook, I take into account all she has taught me. I have been taught to love food that not only lasts good, but also makes me feel good.
You might be thinking that I’m one of those super healthy people. But let’s be real, I like cookies, pizza, and fries as much as the next person. That stuff is delicious! So instead of restricting myself- gluten free, paleo, blah blah blah, I just try to listen to my body and reward it for all it does for me. As a result, I want to take care of it, and feed it natural, seasonal, nutritious, and limitedly processed foods.
This blog will be filled with all different kinds of recipes. Most will be vegetarian, healthy, and easy to make, requiring minimal prep and equipment. I hope it will show my easy and flexible approach to a healthy yet delicious lifestyle and diet.
